Top 5 Ways to Modernize Your Wedding

Weddings have been in existence for a long time, which probably explains why all of them seem similar. I have visited dozens of weddings, so that as I appreciate everyday them, not just one jumps out to be particularly unique. This is sensible, as weddings are grounded in traditions returning hundreds of years, so much in fact that many brides are just afraid to interrupt the traditional norms. But allow me to say, it doesn't need to be by doing this! You can continue to have a bang-up, crowd-pleasing wedding even though you forego a few of the long-standing traditions. As such, below are a few ideas to modernize the wedding.

Perhaps the simplest way to modernize the wedding dresses is to produce a highly personalized wedding theme. The simple fact is that many weddings do not possess a specific theme, yet best wishes weddings I've ever visited have been associated with a theme. Requiring wedding guests to comply with a particular theme helps break the ice, and it is a bonding experience for everybody in attendance. That is the reason why theme weddings will always be more fun than "regular" weddings. Now, it doesn't mean you need to possess a costume party! Your theme ought to be simpler than that – concentrate on color, era, or dress style.

The second and in all likelihood most controversial method to modernize the wedding is to ditch the church. I know, I know…some individuals might view this as simply sacrilege or blasphemy, but there is nothing more common than weddings that take place in either churches or hotels. Instead, think about a destination wedding, beach wedding, backyard/garden wedding, or perhaps a wedding in an elegant historical estate or countryside mansion.

Another method to modernize the wedding is to eliminate those funky wedding traditions that you simply always see – the garter toss, bouquet toss, cake-cutting event, etc. In my estimation, these are outdated traditions and may easily be replaced by more contemporary ideas. For example, you can show a "this is the life" slideshow from the bride and groom, stage a tournament for the guests, or serve wedding cupcakes or frozen treats sundaes instead of a wedding cake. The sky is the limit, you need to be creative!

Yet another method to add a modern flair to the wedding is to ditch the white gown. Almost every wedding I've ever visited has been a "white wedding," therefore if you're the bride-to-be, why don't you change up and opt for a more contemporary or colorful wedding gown? Trust me, using a non-white wedding gown will immediately make the wedding stand out, particularly if it ties along with your overall wedding theme. Similarly, the bridesmaids' dresses may also be non-traditional – for instance, multi-colored dresses, every bridesmaid wearing another color dress, or heck…no dresses whatsoever!

Finally, ditch the standard wedding menu. There's only a lot of prime rib, chicken, and salmon your friends and relatives can stomach. Mix up and make it less formal. For example, serve burgers and fries rather than a fancy sit-down meal. Or have multiple food stations having a particular ethnicity of food. Or turn it into a pizza party! No appear you do, please forgo the standard "wedding food" that many people dread.

I do hope you enjoyed this quick listing of things you can do to bring the wedding into the twenty-first century. The bottom line is the fact that you ought to let the creativity flow and think away from the box while you figure out methods to modernize the wedding – do that, and I guarantee that the wedding will be the one that people remember for a long time.
